As 2011 draws to a close, it's time to look back on the last 12 months of incredible space science and discovery.
From covering the historic final flight of the space shuttle to spotting record-breaking jumbo black holes; from Higgs boson rumors to lost Russian Mars probes; from Pluto debates to space junk dodging... Discovery News has been there, filtering the wheat from the chaff and publishing the most mind-blowing stories to come from our awe-inspiring Universe.
TOP 10: See the Reader's Choice winners from 2010!
To kick-off this year's "Reader's Choice," I asked our space contributors, plus the rest of the Discovery News editorial team, for their nominations for this year's voting. Let's face it, there's been a heck of a lot of articles, blogs and slide shows, who better to scoop out the creme of the crop?
In addition, I pulled out the stats to look for the "most popular" stories and the stories that ignited the biggest debates in the comment boxes to add to the list.
So now, it's down to you.
A poll has been created for you to place your votes. You're allowed as many votes as you like, as I realize you may have more than one story you want to vote for. So the rules are simple, select the stories you really liked -- don't select the ones you didn't -- and then submit your vote! (The rest is down to statistics, I hope.)
