LondonBus

London has many iconic images, Big Ben, London Bridge, Austin Powers. The most mobile of those images, the big red double-decker bus, is getting a makeover after 50 years. The new bus is slated to be the most environmentally friendly of its kind that emits only 640 grams of CO2 per kilometer and gets 11.6 mpg, double the mpg of other diesel buses.

The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, proposed the new buses when first elected, the design when from drawing board to prototype in just two years. Eight buses will begin transporting passengers starting the first half of next year. Beginning in February, it will serve the 38 route from Victoria to Hackney. If this proves successful, hundreds of the hybrid double-deckers will roll out over the next few years.
