Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5 Adds Support For Revised iOS 5.1.1; Includes Location Services Fix For iPhone 3GS

Sn0wbreeze

iH8sn0w has also released a new version of Sn0wbreeze (v2.9.5), which adds support for the revised iOS 5.1.1 that was released by Apple for GSM iPhone 4 users.

iH8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze v2.9.4, which includes suport for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV.

In addition to support for the revised iOS 5.1.1, iH8sn0w has also included a fix for location services for iPhone 3GS users (iPad baseband users).

Sn0wbreeze allows users to create custom iOS 5.1.1 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can then be used to upgrade their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 5.1.1. In case of iPhone, Sn0wbreeze also preserves the baseband from getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w (though Ultrasn0w is not yet compatible with iOS 5.1.1).

Here's what's new in Sn0wbreeze v2.9.5:

Added 5.1.1/9B208 untether payload for the iPhone 4 GSMAdded iPhone 3GS (iPad Baseband users) location services fixSn0wbreeze 2.9.5 supports the following iOS devices running on iOS 5.1.1:iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4iPad 1iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4GApple TV 2iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users who depend on unlocking should use Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w (whenever Dev team releases it with iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak support) as it preserves the baseband. If you're only after jailbreaking then you could use the Absinthe jailbreak tool as it is easier to use. Users having trouble jailbreaking their iOS device with Absinthe can also try Sn0wbreeze.You can download the latest version Sn0wbreeze, which is available only for Windows users using this link.If you need help with Absinthe 2.0.x, then check out our step-by-step guide to jailbreak your iOS device using Absinthe 2.0.1: As always, let us know how it goes in the comments.

Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2: Tethered Jailbreak For iOS 5.1 For iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch Released

Sn0wbreeze

iH8sn0w has also released Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2 to jailbreak iOS 5.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that was just released by Apple.

Sn0wbreeze is considered the unofficial PwnageTool for Windows. It allows users to create custom iOS 5.1 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can then be used to upgrade their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 5.1. In case of iPhone, Sn0wbreeze also preserves the baseband from getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w (though Ultrasn0w is not yet compatible with iOS 5.1 yet).

According to the release notes, Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2 includes the following features:

Added Tethered Jailbreak support for 3GS/iPod Touch 3/A4 Users on iOS 5.1 (9B176)iPhone 3GS old-bootrom users are untethered on 5.1/9B176 (as usual).Bug Fixes (Specifically with the iPad baseband and iPhone 2G).Re-added the iPhone Dev-Team's iPhone 2G permanent unlock 'BootNeuter'.Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2 supports the following iOS 5.1 devices:Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2 supports an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) and a tethered jailbreak for the remaining iOS 5.1 devices mentioned above, which means that you need to connect your iOS device to the computer on every reboot. Sn0wbreeze cannot jailbreak iPad 2 or iPhone 4S, which are powered by Apple's A5 chip. iH8sn0w explains why the new version of Sn0wbreeze does not support iPhone 4S and iPad 2 currently:

A low level (DFU/iBoot/LLB) exploit is required to start the restoration of custom IPSWs. The past two jailbreaks (JailbreakMe & absinthe) for the A5 worked within iOS itself. These exploits are not capable of bringing the iDevice into a state where it will accept custom IPSWs. Therefore, an A5 device cannot currently downgrade to an iOS revision that Apple is no longer signing (even with SHSH blobs) and it cannot preserve the baseband when updating to a newer iOS revision.

Please note that iPhone Dev team strongly recommends jailbreakers and unlockers to avoid upgrading to iOS 5.1 so use Sn0wbreeze or recently released Redsn0w only if you have accidentally upgraded to iOS 5.1.

But if you can't wait then you can download Sn0wbreeze 2.9.2 for Windows using this link.
