Playboy Plans Club in Space

4SUITE

So what will the well-dressed Playboy bunny wear in space? A jetpack, of course.

She'll need one to tool around the dance club, serving "globules of floating liquids," which pass as drinks in the weightlessness of space. If this sounds like science fiction (or a fantasy) consider the source: Playboy magazine, which lays out a vision of a Playboy club in space in its March issue.

With privately owned spaceships in development, Playboy borrowed futurists and rocket scientists to imagine what an adult entertainment establishment in orbit might be like.

"Playboy Club in space will be on a station in orbit, like a cruise ship," writes A.J. Baime and Jason Harper. "Orbiting Earth is one idea, but it could also travel around other celestial bodies."

3CLUB"You could literally swing around the dark side of the moon," says Virgin Galactic head designer Adam Wells, who helped out with the project.

Some parts of the club -- like the restaurant -- would have artificial gravity. Others, like the dance club, would be weightlessness party rooms with trampolines so you could literally bounce off the the walls.

For more intimate encounters, the magazine envisions "pleasure orbital domes" where guests can practice zero-gravity sex. And it'll take some practice. "For every action, there will be quite an opposite reaction," writes futurist Thomas Frey, director of the DaVinci Institute.

"The entire Kama Sutra will have to be reimagined according to the rules of zero-gravity physics," adds Baime and Harper.
