Lexus has brought the idea of cars-as-accessories to a whole new level. They've tapped four designers to create articles of clothing from a dismantled Lexus CT hybrid. The point of this collaboration was to showcase the vehicles' 90-percent recyclability. Like some crazy challenge on Project Runway, the designers were challenged to create fashion while using all of the CT’s parts. The designs are displayed this week at Art Basel Miami Beach art show, and are part of an advertising campaign that will appear on six pages in Vogue’s January issue.

Two-thousand parts were dismantled from the car from which designers created four different designs. The pictures of the designs from the press release look like the average high fashion photo shoot. They accessories ranged from a head piece made from a transmission starter to a trench coat and shorts made from floor mats, wire harness and leather seat covers. The designs will be sold at a private auction during the art show and the proceeds will benefit the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
